    Yep, youngest sister,
42 y/o, on holiday on gold coast beach, has walked ~ 1 1/2 hrs a day for first 3 days on hard wet sand beach barefoot (there and back) now cannot weightbear on forefeet, ambulates on heels (which would be amusing to see), both feet swollen (never have before) especially lateral side (can't distinguish lat malleoli) reports pain on lateral edge of b/feet, got her to palpate 5th tuberosity with force >> no pain elicited, got her to actively and passively move feet, again no pain elicited, only medication is pregnancy prophylactics, usually sedentary except for 1/2 hr daily walking dog.
I apologise for my pt history, its brevity and its omissions, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated, mark c

  2. Blue ring octopus? Great white shark attack? You crazy Australians have so many fun things playing around in the surf she could have walked on any of 'em.

Me? I'm just hoping that Australians don't walk on us tomorrow, but I suspect they may. Early kick off for my team tomorrow so we can watch the game in the bar afterwards. My back hurts- so maybe I need someone to walk over me? Preferrable cute, not a prop.

Aah thanks simon, the sand was 'hard' and tracey usually wears joggers 12/7. An article i perused suggested soft sand acts like a liquid rather than solid in that it 'gives way' >> didn't help me with my sisters problem but had me thinking (round in circles most of the time). Thanks again for the contribution and commiserations re the 1/4 final. I'm looking forward to the demolition of the french by the partial blacks / partial greys, should be a classic!
ANY THOUGHTS ON TRACEY'S SWOLLEN FEET WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, mark c

  4. No thoughts on Tracey's foot BUT...........
YES! Unlucky all you Australians it must really hurt to be beaten by Wilkinson's boot AGAIN. So long, So sad, too bad :D:bang:

Yes Simon, congrats to the better team, more enthusiasm, wilko's left foot and a dominant tight five. Now nz is out they have a better chance of making the final. Pity about Tracey's feet. Oh yeah wasn't a white pointer, she checked and all limbs intact. Mark c

    Hi Mark
Our Gold Coast beaches can be quite discriminatory and makes all the Southerners do it tougher than we do !! At least she wasn't doing the socks and sandals along the sand....though most people have realised what a huge fashion faux pas that really is.

Not only have her feet had a huge shock of our non-supportive, pronation encouraging sand, but she is probably also wearing thongs while hitting the streets supporting our economy...but the Gold Coast version of thongs....gold with flowers or glitter, or both !!

Could be just a short term overuse/ shock and will resolve with a good bottle of wine and her beloved trainers when she gets home. Maybe she would benefit from just a few cubes of ice in the drink and the rest in a foot bath at the end of a big day on our Coast.

I'm not working for the next 2 weeks, but Jason from our year is working if Tracey gets desperate before she gets home.

Sorry but Kevin ( my Pommy Husband ) wants to gloat a little about some football match, but I deleted what he wrote. Now I just need to take down the 3 English flags he has flying !!

Hope Tracey enjoys the rest of her holiday.

    Trudi

And a good morning to you Trudi. I think Tracey is much better now i reassured her that the international podiatry world have concluded that her rapid onset edematous ankles/feet weren't the result of a great white shark attack! She made it back onto the sydney-bound plane with assistance of a wheelchair, which ain't like her (she doesn't have my hypochondria alleles).
I don't mind if Kevin gloats, poor english (note i didn't say 'poms') haven't had much to gloat over since 2003. I actually hope they reach the final to come up against the boks, will be an interesting forward contest.
    All the best, mark c
