I don't know about my other erstwhile, earnest and learned colleagues, but as often as not and increasingly more than before one finds himself in a state of near exhaustion after a day at the sharp end. So much so one has stopped asking "is this normal?" because it has become so and no-one is any the wiser. After almost thirty years doing the same thing you would think it might become easier, if not routine (if one dares to use that term on a podiatry forum), but alas - and beware aspiring candidates - it rarely feels that way. It is reassuring to know, at least, that this is simply the price of popularity and success so they say - ('they' being the chief antagonists primarily) - but what a price and to what cost?

These days I usually collapse in a heap around 8pm after writting up notes, letters, cheques and pick up a six-string for a couple of hours and play some tunes until the lights dim. Seems to work okay.

    What pricks your bubble?
