this is a true story... The wife is treating her.

So I very fit 40 something women was running the Stockholm 1/2 marathon on the weekend. No injuries to report at start , after running about 10 km she felt a little tight in the Quads of the left side. She stopped running and stretched the muscles as she was doing it she felt her Femur break, she fell over and yelled out "Her leg just broke and realised it was hers" just before hitting the ground. Woke up on the back of a ATV on the way to an Ambulance.

They are looking at Osteoporosis as the obvious cause but pretty crazy.

Crazy? Like the woman who used a flat head screw driver to self avulse her toenail? Or maybe the guy who shot another hunter out a tree thinking he was a turkey - except it was deer season? Or the trainee who shot himself in the foot to get out of the Army - and then was stupid enough to tell the other guys on the hospital ward how his injury really happened? Or the kid who jumped off a 15 foot high dam into 3 and 1/2 foot of water intending to do a s"hallow water dive" - but ended up a quad - the very next day after we had been doing the same thing from trees and telling him NEVER jump head first?

And my favorite, the kid who laid down behind a friend's mother's car at church to keep her from driving away - except she did not see him and then she ran him over - TWICE - when she didn't know what that big CLUNK was the first time. Blissfully, the kid lived and told me at the hospital he wasn't going to do that anymore.

The list of ALMOST crazy (stupid) injuries to yours truly ends up being too long to think about, but might include things like playing with Navy counter measure flares (little missiles used by jets to not get shot down by missiles), borrowing rail cars and taking them down hills until they flew off secondary to inertia being fully intact (resulting in friends having femoral fractures), etc..
