    Saying hello to everyone.

I am a podiatrist student and would like to network with other podiatrists working in diabetic and venuous ulcers.

My father has a chronic black dry sore on his lower limb on the same leg that he had a vein taken out for heart surgery. Its dry but am interested in treating it with medihoney dressings.

Question - would a Manuka honey dressing ( 16+) be an effective treatment or spur iatrogenic problems due to its debriding qualities?

All help on this topic would be most appreciated.

    Hi Adam,

Thank you for joining & :welcome: to Podiatry Arena.

You may find more response to your question if you repost in the Diabetes forum.

May I also ask, where are you studying?

    Kind regards,

    Mandy.

    Hi there & welcome,

you may find it useful to search the current evidence base - there are a number of research papers on honey dressings - databases to try are:

    • cochrane
      [*]nhs e-library
      [*]biomed central
      [*]medscape[*]cinahl
this list is by no means exhaustive, there is also a complementary medicines website where you can locate research papers/info: www.nccam.nih.gov

    hope it helps
