having a look at an online phylogenetics site

in it it claims that, "... the most recent common ancestor (MRCA) that you share with your (sibling) is your mother ..."

my question, why my mother and not my father?

they repeat it later for cousins, "...the MRCA that you share with your cousin is your maternal grandmother ..."
where it's the mother's brother is the father of this particular cousin

tried it elsewhere, even Dr. Karl (too busy to reply methinks unless he has also banned me lol)

    any reasonable explanation appreciated, mark

I do not know the answer, but suggest it may be related to the mitrochondrial DNA arguments and Maternal DNA. I stand by to be corrected by someone that does know.

/thanks rob, that was the only factor i could think of but the body is more than the cellular mitochondria so i though there must be another reason
