Functional Foot Typing: The Hypothesis

    Last chance!

    What about STJ Neutral or ST Axis Location, do you use either of those.
    (Your Mother)

    this is getting so boring.

    I don;t answer your question and you don;t answer mine.

    If you don;t answer this question I think it would be better to just ignore your rants and you ignore mine as they serve little purpose.

  2. Last chance, or what? You'll take your ball home? Stop posting up the same old, same old threads attempting to promote your foot-typing system? Carry out the research I've suggested you should do and have the results published in a peer-reviewed journal? Or will you just continue to behave like a five year-old? Which will it be, Dennis? I've got my STJ axis location ICC's at work, I'll post them up tomorrow. Do you know what an ICC is? I'm not ranting; you, however, are a cock.

    Now what are your kappa values for functional foot-typing?

    P.S. It got boring about four or five foot-typing threads ago when you revealed you general ignorance.

  3. Ooooookay we're here again.

    The OP was

    Your response was a description of what you consider to be evidence. Mine was a comment on why I think that list is not in fact "evidence" at all. This IS relevant as were Simons comments. The fact that they are not to your liking does not make them irrelevant or incorrect.

    Why do you fixate on a dichotomy between direct inductive level one evidence and evidence derived from nothing more than opinion and heresay. As we have pointed out before there is the middle ground of the lower bands of evidence, level III Us or level D Uk, which is treatment based on bench data and first principles. That is evidence, of a deductive type, Is well within the reach of the Pod on the street and is valid for EBM. Certainly more so than "common sense" evidence or "societies values" which are a fair distance from being evidence in any sense of the word.

    And now I must go. The "your mama" response has amused me mightily (and yet again shown the level of debate that you invariably revert to) so I shall now go away and try to come up with some "yo mama" jokes relevant to biomechanics or EBM. :D Gives me something to think about while I'm grinding insoles.

    Yo Mama's feet so cavus, she needs a miners lamp to paint her nails dawg!

    We still don't get it!

  5. Tom Hanks as Josh in "Big"?

  6. OCD? It would appear so.

  7. Thats the one where you obsessively do the same behavior right? I don't think its that.

    Which is the one where you think there is a big conspiracy against you and everybody is out to get you?

  8. That'll be paranoia. You can get paranoia mixed in with other mental health disorders though. For example, schizophrenia; which is a multiple personality disorder.

  9. Nah, I think I'm a more likely candidate for OCD than Dennis. Certainly the obsessive bit.

    But I think Dennis could make a good run at paranoia.

  10. You and me both, why are we both wasting our time with this sh!t again?

    Time for a new foot-typing thread I should think, Dennis...
    "functional foot-typing: out of the frying-pan..."

    Ad nauseam. Next candidate please...

  11. I have NO idea. I just can't help myself! The thread starts so promisingly, gets about a page in, then just when we start to get stuck into the argument we get the "your mama" stuff again! It provides a rich vein of humour for a dozen posts or so, gets nasty, I swear I'm done with it, then a few days on I get sucked in again. :bang: Not a fast learner me.

    Oh well.

    You mama is so Pes Planus, they GROUNDED her because of an Ash cloud! (dawg)

    This time I'm REALLY done with it.

    Really.

    I swear.

    I'm logging off now.

    Ah Dennis

    [IMG]

    For those like me who are fascinated by internet memes this is in the "picture unrelated" catagory. Although I suspect I'm alone in that interest. And the Idea of Dennis and I in a Gay relationship is a bit icky as I'm sure he'd agree.

  12. My problem with my involvement is this: no publicity is bad publicity and by getting involved in these threads I am complicit to the marketing that Dennis is attempting. I really must learn to ignore all the bullsh!t that he espouses and not get sucked in to working for the man. If he started a thread and no-one responded.... bet you can't Isaacs.

    Simon, you win the trivia contest!

  14. I watch too much TV! Except, at that point it wasn't Tom Hanks playing Josh, it it was David Moscow.

  15. You're on. We'll see who cracks first!
    probably me

  16. Don't think of it as work, just try to enjoy your game.
    Use this as your inspiration in times of temptation:

  17. OK those ICC's for transverse plane projection of the STJ axis. We set up a cartesian co-ordinate system so we have three measures X( intersection of STJ axis on the X axis of the co-ordinate system) , Y intersection of STJ axis with the Y axis of the co-ordinate system and Theta (angulation)

    Intra-observer between day:

    X = 8.926
    Y= 8.247
    Theta = 8.463

    Inter-observer between day
    X =7.775
    Y= 7.246
    Theta = 7.482

    That's it for me on foot-typing.

    I have no problem admitting that I do not practice biomechanics as you using daily ICC's and monitoring my Kappa's.

    Do you infer that I (or any clinician not performing these tasks) am a poorer practitioner of biomechanics than one who does?

    DrSha

  19. I don't do this daily. I infer that if you want to promote the idea of foot-typing and to be taken more seriously, you should start to address the questions that need to be answered for any new or emerging technique: those of reliability and validity.

    Like I said, enough from me.

    I was aware of the need for more publishing surrounding FFT in order to validate my claims and was taking painfully slow steps to provide low level evidence for FFT as I prematurely entered The Arena with my work in order to try to defend The Admin's original posting.
    I rapidly admitted my lack of evidence.

    I should be ready to submit preliminary studies for peer review in 2-3 months.

    I don't know what more to say at this time.
    DrSha

  21. Probably best to say nothing then.

    Not having evidence, my other Arena agenda became to try to close the gap that existed between my work and SALRE/Tissue Stress/Newtonian Theory Biomechanics (is there a better name?).

    Your inability to consider that:
    1. Your low level (mostly D with some C) evidence does not put you very far ahead when compared to the vaulty posture you assume on The Arena
    2. Your Inter-practitioner examination and diagnosis of feet is flawed like mine.
    3. There are posted admissions on The Arena inferring that you do not have answers to many of your questions and much remains unknown for all of us.
    4. There is a middle ground in biomechanics for pure positonalists (the ideal position) as artists and momentists (evidence) as pure scientists with positive and negative aspects to both that should be melded.

    What I realize now is that you cannot stop me from being who I am and cannot stop you from being you and in that sense, it's probably best to say nothing on this one as well and try to learn from your positives in my future Arena dealings.

    DrSha

  23. Ad nauseum, Dennis.

  24. Simon you bloody old Fraud!

    4 Posts since then!

    Addict!

    Ok well then this is MY last post on FFT. Definitely. Possibly.

    Dennis.

    I think you're partly right. We won't sell you on the idea of what we think of as EBM and we will never successfully communicate what we think of as the flaws in neoteric biomechanics. You have not got the tools to convince us of the merit of Neoteric biomechanics either by expalining the basis for it, nor reference to external data.

    You will always be angered by direct criticism of your model and we will always think that the idea of treating the foot on the basis of 3 arches went out of date in 1971.

    There is nothing we can gain from discussing your work. Its like an argument on the relative merits of asperin against the eiffel tower. We are speaking different languages in different frames of reference which renders communication impossible and agreement doubly so.

    By our standards your work is dated, illogical and pointless. By yours we are pedantic, prejudiced and closed minded. This is frustrating for both of us.

    Lets leave it there. You have nothing we want and we have little you will accept.

  25. Anyone following these threads want to bet that Dennis, Simon and Robert won't be able to give these discussions on functional foot typing a rest for two weeks?

    Any takers?:drinks

  26. I'll take your dollar that I can.

  27. You're on, big boy.:drinks

    The question now is whether Dennis and Robert will take on my challenge.

  28. I'll take the side bet that I can hold out longer than Simon.

    Double or nothing that Dennis continues to talk to himself anyway.

  30. Fool bet! No chance.

  31. Combien ?

  32. cinq livres?

    Why are we speaking french?

  33. K. Why is the "x- factor" perceived as being entertainment worthy of being on my television? As Dennis points out, we don't know all of the answers.

  34. Because 50% of the population are educationally sub-normal.

    Are you familier with the "if you watch it backwards" convention? It goes thus. If you watch [insert film or tv program here] backwards its [insert description of the film or tv program here]

    For EG.

    If you watch "300" backwards its about a team of elite spartan surgeons who are healed by a huge army of persians and repay said surgeons by re-attatching their limbs so that they can all get back in their ships and go home.

    If you watch the exorcist backwards its about a girl who gets very ill until she eats some pea soup then feels better.

    The point being...

    If you watch the X factor backwards its about a talentless oik who is stripped of their fame and money and dumped back on the street to an unfulfilled life of obscurity. Which is nice.

  35. I was only yesterday saying to the vicars wife that her rock-cakes were as heavy as Ytterbium, she just smiled knowing full-well that Lawrencium was heavier than Ytterbium. ****ing Bitch. Intellectual TV, that's what the kids are crying out for.

  36. And I thought that a gram of Lawrencium, a gram of Ytterbium and a gram of feathers all weighed the same!:cool:
