  3. Hi ecas,

Regarding Cyprus the podiatric services are being paid on private basis. The reason for this, is the fact podiatry or podology as you want to call it, has not been recognised as part of National Healthcare System NHS).

I am bit uncertain whether in Greece, the goverment there provides some funding but most likely the answer will be no, since once again they come across the same situation as in Cyprus.

    I hope that helped.

    Hi

I am a state registered podiatrist in Malta. Our services for the older adults are as follows:

    • We have a podogeriatric division consisting of 5 podiatrists. Though the number seems small Malta has a population of just 400,000 of which aprox 16% are older adults.
    • We give a full comprehensive podiatric free service to:
Older adults living in one of the nine government homes (approximately 3000 older adults)
All ambulant older adults are given a free podiatry service at one of the eight health centres across the island.
We also give a limited service in day centres for the elderly and regular educational talks.
So basically all older adults who need a podiatric service can get it for free.

Hope this helps – if you need further information please do not hesitate to ask
