    Royal North Shore Hospital seeks a Head of Department to lead the Podiatry & High Risk Foot Services. The successful applicant will be a senior leader in the organisation and deliver accountable, values-based health care to a high acuity patient population.

    Where you'll be working
    Royal North Shore Hospital is a principal tertiary referral hospital for Northern Sydney Local Health District providing a comprehensive range of complex services to patients from across NSW. It has a strong and proud history in education, research and provision of high quality clinical care. Royal North Shore Hospital provides specialty services including major trauma, severe burns, spinal cord injuries, neonatal intensive care, bone marrow transplantation, neurosurgery and interventional neuroradiology alongside acute medical, surgical, mental health, paediatric, cancer and maternity services. The campus is also home to The Kolling – a medical research institute jointly governed with the University of Sydney.

    The Department of Podiatry & High Risk Foot Services provides specialist interventions across the emergency department, admitted acute, subacute admitted, and outpatient services. The department supports specialist services in high risk foot, orthopaedic fracture, rheumatology, vascular surgery and renal transplant. Specialist equipment used by the podiatry department includes automated ABPI machines, point of care ultrasound, f-scan and ultrasound debridement.

    The Department supports continued education and has a number of staff working toward their medication prescribing competencies. An honorary academic provides guidance on research projects and an honorary senior podiatrist provides support for prescribing skills training. All members of the department are supported to become Credentialed Advanced Wound Care Practitioners.

    At Ryde Hospital members of the department includes a senior rehabilitation podiatrist and an inpatient podiatry team.

    What you'll be doing
    The Head of Department is responsible for the operational and strategic direction of the department. The Head of Department is responsible for the provision of clinical care and management duties. They will monitor and report financial and clinical performance, monitor demand and wait lists, and lead a highly motivated team of Podiatrists and Allied Health Assistants to provide high quality care.

    Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
    1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
    2. Tertiary qualifications in Podiatry and clinical experience at Level 3 or above with current generalist registration with the Podiatry Board of Australia.
    3. Demonstrated experience in service evaluation, development, planning and implementation.
    4. Demonstrated high level skills in professional clinical practice including the application of evidence based practice in Podiatry.
    5. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage change and ensure continuous quality improvement.
    6. Demonstrated high level communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
    7. Demonstrated experience in providing management, leadership and strategic direction for podiatry services; including financial and human resource management.
    8. Demonstrated experience working within the multi-disciplinary team environment.
