Hi all,
My name is Michele, I'm a third year student at NYCPM. I'll preface this question by stating that during our third year here, we take many biomechanically driven courses. With this comes the discussion of orthotic prescription writing. It seems that there are many particularities that one should consider before making a prescription ( a small example being the differnce is prescription for a flexable vs rigid plantarflexed first ray). For all the practicing pods, I wonder, do you get to practice the intricate details of orthotic prescription or do you tend to rely on your lab moreso than defining the details of what you want from your orthotic? I am not sure why you would not use a prescription? The lab does not know the foot.
Perhaps you can create a new thread in the biomechanics forum for further answers?
