    Hi,

I realise Biomechanics is constant learning process. I have much to learn & in the eyes of many a novice!

Can anyone please fully explain the addition of a medial addition to a positive cast? I realise that its something to do with allowing 1st ray planterflexion. However, 1st ray cut out would surely do the same.

I would be grateful if someone could take time to clarify when to use:
low, medium or high medial addition on orthosis prescription?

    Thanks
    Snoopy

    Hi Snoopy,

    :welcome: to Podiatry Arena...

Do you mean a medial heel skive? Heaps of info if you do a search here... :D

    Regards

    Donna :)

    Hi Donna,

No a medial forefoot to mid foot addition to positive cast. Not the arch fill. I believe its something to do with allowing 1st ray plantarflexion. I've seen it on 'langer' prescription next to lateral expansion

    Thanks for replying

you should contact Langer directly. You will find each lab has their own "definition" for these terms, and they will be able to provide you with their meaning of the term, and what outcome it will have on your prescription.
