Horizontal Red Line Across Big Toe

I have a horizontal bright red line across my left great toe. I had not stubbed or injured my toe prior to noticing the line across the base of my toenail approximately 3 months ago. I am also relatively confident in saying I don’t feel like it was caused by ill fitting shoes as I am very conscientious of my footwear after having an issue with my right foot a couple of years ago.
