This is what the x ray report revealed

There is a very large fragmented complex spur present at the insertion of the achilles tendon with associated thickening of the Achilles.
There is no plantar calcaneal spur .

I have never seen a heel with achilles attachment as wide or thickened as this.

    Pt is 60 yo female

    BMI 20

Reasonably active ,relatively unremarkable gait, no excessive pronation or obvious deviation from the ideal in foot function.

No report of traumatic injury to the area

Symptoms . High levels of pain weight bearing and non weight bearing.

    Rx Dicolfenac 25 mg TID

Thanks all. I look forward to your suggestions

  2. 1st get the xrays up so we can see them.

But without seeing anything and reading this - very large fragmented complex spur present at the insertion of the achilles tendon I would suggest you canĀ“t conservatively and surgery is the way forward for your patient.

    But pictures please.
