Thought this may have been posted on here already but doesn't seem to have - so for those not on Facebook and Twitter who may not have seen it doing the rounds last night, make sure you set your Sky+ boxes for 9pm next Tuesday to record BBC4.

Feet, feet everywhere - and not a podiatrist in sight!

BBC4 has a show on anatomy/ biomechanics of the foot and so far I have yet to see a podiatrist. I would like to personally congratulate the Society and similar bodies for successfully promoting the profession - well done! I am so happy that my annual subscriptions have paid for your PR departments. You guys should give yourself a pat on the back - or maybe you could employ a chiropractor/ osteopath/ orthopod to do that for you?

Shall we queue the barefoot running questions in clinic again?

    hi bob
do you think the media have a better understanding of Podiatry since the promotion of the HPC to the public?

I looked at a post on training of Podiatrists but it seemed like world war 3 had started among the posters!

Is there any hope of one unified body been accepted and allowed to promote our cause?

    Regards
    Anthony

    Hi Anthony,
In short, no. I have less and less hope about anybody promoting podiatry as time goes by. We spend more time in-fighting and isolating ourselves than promoting or expanding our work.

I believe the media are a bit shy of podiatry in the UK - something to do with a spat between the SCP and SMAE in the 80's. Bill liggins has more information.

For those who are determined to see a fragmented foot industry in the UK, this is what happens guys - :bang:.

Also unfortunate that the barefoot debate is likely to be re-run (excuse the pun) following some of the points discussed.

I can hear the patients at my door now...."but the scientist on the BBC said this is how we are meant to run......" :bang:
