    Hello,

Just wondering if someone can point me in the direction of published studies/guidelines regarding hygiene in clinic with reference to gait assessment area and patients walking barefoot.

    Thanks

Oh dear, that's shame - ever thought about joining ?! :D

Failing that, couldn't your own Professional Organisation help you on this one?

Am not a podiatrist, but am an RN. The ubiquity of organisms on all surfaces is probably readily acknowledged among most medical personnel. Of course, whether or not they are harmful organisms would need to be demonstrated. Perhaps no one would argue about grime on the floor, at the very least due to both staff and clients walking into clinics typically wearing outdoor shoes. -- I just happened to see your inquiry and responded because I also have a post here in the podiatry forum asking whether or not there is interest in a (recently patented) uni-foot shaped pieces of paper that adheres to the sole-of-the foot, for the 'short walk' around the clinic (and/or other similar type venues). In investigating the question myself via discussion with TSA (as I'm interested in the airpoint checkpoint barefoot floor walking requirements also), a letter sent to me states that from their understanding of studies from theDept. of Health and Human Svcs and the CDC....the only medical condition that would present a conceivable threat of significant risk would be Tinea pedis, or Athlete's Foot." This information came to me second hand of course.

That said, if you believe there would be interest in podiatry clinnics in the product I've described in my posting about clinic floor foot protection, I'd be interested in hearing from you.
    Thank you

Sole-of-Foot cover while barefoot in clinic?

We would like to know if there is a market in the podiatry community for a disposable, uni-foot shaped paper that would adhere (without residue) to the sole-of-the foot, to keep it clean while the client is walking barefoot on the clinic floor and/or during gait analysis, for example. This product would be dispensed on a tablet, disposable, recycleable, different sizes, and low cost (pennies per sheet). It is now patented and some market research is in progress to identify users. We would sincerely welcome comments on this product. And, if anyone wishes to discuss this with me directly, I can be reached at (cell) 206 334 1839. Thank you - GwenL / Seattle
