    Hi all

Gary Mason, the boxer who was British champion from 1989 to 1991 and won 37 of his 38 professional fights losing to the up and coming 25 year old Lennox Lewis.
Gary had sustained a serious eye injury in an earlier fight and after his defeat against Lewis made it impossible to continue boxing.

Gary was a patient of mine for many years and I deemed him as a friend, he was the proverbial "gentle giant" a massive frame but a heart of gold.
He was a kind thoughtful and gentle man in fact He had his first bike ride ( to lose weight) to an appointment with me through Beddington park and told me he stopped to sign autographs for the kids that recognised him on the way.

Gary did much unrecognised charity work and also with the black gangs around the area to try and stop the senseless killing if young black youths.

He was a very very nice guy and one that I will miss. I heard the news today he had been killed in a cycling accident ( run down by a white van man) who has been arrested and charged.

The news has upset me greatly as I feel I have lost a friend and the world has lost a great caring man.

RIP Gary and thank you for your contribution to life and your friendship.

    Del,

    Sad news my friend.

His family & friends will hopefully find comfort in their memories of such a fine man.

    With love,

I along with many others thought that as well.

Just suprised how his death has got to me having dealt with it in my former life all the time you become hardened to the emotional side.

But there ya go perhaps I am human after all

Thank you all for your comments much appreciated
    Cheers

    Hello DTT

Sorry to hear about your loss...from what you say, he seemed a lovely guy. So young. Another life snuffed out by a 'crazy horse' ...
