Lawsuit claims running shoes caused injury

Abby Steiner, the four-time NCAA champion and two-time World gold medalist, has officially filed a 35-page lawsuit against PUMA and Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Ltd (Mercedes F1).
The allegation? That the very shoes designed to make her a legend actually ended her career.
According to the complaint, the following models (pictured in the lawsuit) are at the center of the storm:
PUMA Deviate Nitro Elite 2 & 3
PUMA evoSPEED Tokyo Nitro & 400M
Other CF (Carbon Fiber) and Nitrofoam models.
The 62 Points of Negligence (Section 138):
Steiner’s legal team isn’t holding back. They’ve listed 62 specific failures, alleging that the "super-shoe" technology—specifically the carbon fiber plates and Nitrofoam—fundamentally altered her foot biomechanics.
The suit claims these shoes caused "severe and permanent" injuries, leading to at least three surgeries (including double Haglund's) and ultimately forcing her to "take a step back" from the sport at just 26 years old.

The lawsuit alleges Mercedes F1 was directly involved in the engineering and testing of these spikes. Steiner claims they marketed these shoes as safe and elite while knowing they increased the risk of bone stress injuries and extreme physical strain.
