    Dear all,

I am in the rather lengthy process of compiling a business plan to put to some of our locality managers within the Trust I work in order to gain funding to undertake study and training in podiatric surgery.

As I am sure you can appreciate, there are many hoops to jump through and bottoms to kiss. One of the areas I am looking to expand upon in my 'pitch' are the outcomes between podiatric surgery vs orthopaedic surgery. I was also interested in finding literature that supports the work of pod surgeons so I can defend the position if pressed by opposing bodies.

Any pointers towards these areas, or any additional advice and guidance, would be very much welcomed and appreciated.

    Many thanks.

Not wishing to spoil your parade, but if you provided good hard evidence supporting Pod surgical work versus Orthopods, with todays current financial climate, they might just recruit a Pod surgeon, rather than invest time/money training you up, sorry but that might be the case.

Thanks for the insight. With all due respect this is not some whimsical plight.

In a nutshell, I have been given the unofficial nod to do this but need to compile a solid evidenced based business plan. That is where I’m at and that is what I need to do.

Never thought it was , but never mind. Im sure the Society might have some evidence, failing that ask Ian Reilly/Stuart Metcalfe? Lee ? from Manchester, all very creditable pod surgeons.

I think what Peter meant was, that if the trust buy into your plan it would be more cost effective to buy in an existing Consultant now and start the service up, than wait the 8-10 years for you to be able to run your own surgical team

Best of luck anyhow, another service will always be welcome
