Hello to all my fellow podiatrist colleagues

I'm a HPC register Podiatrist graduated from Portugal!*I have been searching for courses in Local anesthetic for podiatrists in order to be eligible for a Certificate of Competence in Local Anaesthesia with the HPC
I contacted some of the HPC approved Institution without success, not getting any response so far!

Does anybody here know of any course in Local anesthetic for podiatrists to be held shortly? Any information you can give me would be appreciated!

Thanks for all your help in advance, I await for your response.

    Kind regards
    :drinks

  2. Andre have you tried the society ?

http://www.scpod.org/ or http://www.feetforlife.org/I guess they would have a full list of courses being run, when, where etc.

Not much going on at the minute at my place (friday night and all) thought I would pass some time maybe it helps maybe you have already done that.

The Bournemouth and Poole Branch of the SCP are running an LA update course with theory and practical included, its on the 22nd Jan 2011.

Karen Read is the person you need to contact for further details if you're interested, you can contact her on this e-mail address: bmouthscpod@googlemail.com

Well my search for courses in local anesthesia in the UK is proving to be harder than I thought! After receiving the responses from the universities all told me that the next edition of these courses will only be in September, however I have a doubt!
During my degree in Portugal I had 3 modules of Pharmacology and in the first module whe covered all the theory related to anesthesia (local / general sedation). A year after I graduate I attended at Barcelona a postgraduate degree of one year (180 hours) in minimal incision Podiatric Surgery, where again I had a module which covers the theory of local anesthesia and one practical module where we perform the different techniques of local anesthesia in feet from cadavers. In the past year (2010) again I attended a course in Nail Surgery at Barcelona with a duration of 22.5 where again I had two modules (theoretical and practical) on local anesthesia, also in 2010 I attended at New York to a 50 hours Professional Specialization in nail, toe and Hallux Valgus Podiatric Surgery, where again I approached the theoretical and practice of local anesthetic techniques

My question is with all these hours of training in local anesthesia shouldt I be eligible to obtain a Certificate of Competence in Local Anaesthesia with the HPC?

    Thanks
    André

I'd say you sound more educated and well read on the subject than the majority of Podiatrists who earnt the LA certificate as part of their undergraduate Podiatry degrees.

Probably not. Welcome to the mad house of UK Podiatry...
