My 12 year old has extra naviculars in both feet! Surgery?

My 12 year old son was diagnosed with this in both feet. He desperately wants to play sports and the non surgical recommendations haven’t worked. He had an boot cast for 4 months, but when he come out of it and into custom made orthotics the pain is back. I’m not sure what to do, I’ve read that there are new ways to do the surgery but I’m concerned with subjecting a 12 year old to this kind of surgery. He loves sports and always ends up with a bruised swollen ankle that kills him, so I want...
