Hi All - I need some help please. I have a 17 yo female who stood on an aluminum door frame and either that, or playing hockey the next day, has torn her plantar fascia near where it attaches into the metatarsal heads. She presents with severe pain on weight bearing and ultrasound shows a small tear. Orthotics or strapping? Moon boot? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have never seen this injury before. Thanks.

    Hi

If she is in "severe pain" I would want an xray first, then perhaps a MSK US to r/o a plantar plate or flexor tendon tear.

    Good luck

Thanks Steve, in our system any further investigations could take a week or more. I saw her yesterday and strapped it, she could walk almost pain free. I have also organised a moon boot. Hopefully she'll get overseas in two weeks in a little more comfort.
    Cheers
    Judy
