We currently use in our clinic for chairside biomechanics the langer range of orthotics/insoles, they come with lots of bits and can be easily modified quickly and are reasonably priced, I wondered what systems every one else is using?
I wondered if anyone has tried the heat moulded sidas system? Can they be easily adapted and do they look a quality product once completed?

We have been using the Sidas system for 2 years. I originally started using the system whilst at Uni in Huddersfield and bought it off them as i was qualifying.

It's really easy to use and Sidas have a wide range of insole blanks to suit all kinds of footwear and sports shoes.

The system consists of 2 silicone filled pillows that are vacuumed and become rigid. The patient stands on these and sinks in to them as you let the air back in to the pillows. This captures their relaxed position which you can then correct by pushing the silicone into the gaps once you put the patient in to a more supportive, comfortable and aligned position. You then re-vacuum the pillows to hold the corrected footprint and push in to the footprint your chosen insole which has been heating in a small vacuumed heater.

The systems are expensive, but if you want to try one, I am selling mine as I am selling my clinic and leaving podiatry for family reasons. My colleague spends one day a week working in my clinic and the rest of the week working for Sidas UK. I can let you have his details if you like. He helps a local podiatrist who makes insoles for Manchester City, Liverpool and Middlesborough football clubs.
