    Hello there,

I have decided to apply to study podiatric medicine for next academic intake. I am 33yrs old a holistic therapist. I would greatly apprecaite some advice on what I should include on my UCAS form.

    Merry Christmas x

    Good Morning,

What I specifically wanted to ask was as a mature student, I have the ITEC diploma in holistic massage which I completed in 2008- this encompassed anatomy and physiology. Would this be sufficient evidence of recent academic study?

Hi Sarah & :welcome: to Podiatry Arena. Happy Christmas too :santa:

You would possibly get a clearer indication of your chosen universities guidelines by contacting their podiatry department directly.

The very best of luck in your future.

    Kind regards,

    Mandy.

Thank you Twirly for your reply. I am going to contact my chosen universities in early January.
In the meantime I am working on my UCAS application.

Seriously? Its not a hard course to get into, really its not. They tend to be quite keen to get bums on seats.

    Good luck.

I agree, it is too easy to get into. But the course is hard.

  9. I've done the item diploma in anatomy and physiology. I used it as my recent academic study when I applied to Plymouth last year. I've started my course now and am really enjoying it.

You should be fine. Good luck.

If your applying for ber you need to do so by 15th January.
Im in the same boat (but I have been a beauty therapist for 10 years) and applying for Brighton uni.
Ensure you mention in your personal statement what you have learned from the Holistics (eg. patience, experience with feet eg refering clients to podiatrists due to corn's and varucca' etcs). See about getting work experience in the podiatry field as it will show you are serious.
If you need more advice just email me.
    Laura :)

But maybe don't write 'varucca' on your application ;)

hi sarah i applied during the induction week for podiatry this year and i managed to get on even tho i was starting late. so im sure you will be fine, the other comment about the course being easy to get on but hard work is very true. especially the anatomy, but the course is very rewarding, best of luck

I have known Brighton Uni to take Pod students as late as October days before the first lecture! (can't quote for other uni's lol)

that was for someone that was inquiring about starting the following year and got invited to join the current year! lol then did the UCAS forms for clearing after they had been given the place.

as rob said its not difficult... just be breathing, alcoholic, drug addict, chain smoker and they will make you welcome... ;)

Why did I believe the old cow, 30 years ago, at the Foot hospital, who said she wanted to keep it a male profession (and if it became a female job, the wages would go down) and apply, I was only enquiring, and was put off applying and now, with my aged brain, (and white ants) I so struggle to study!!! 'Sob.....good luck all.
