Question about Agenda for Change Pay Points

    Hi

    I am a Band 6 Podiatrist, with 4 years experience, however I recently took a year off work, which happened to be while all the A4C was going through.

    Anyway, upon returning to work I was placed onto Band 6, but I was put at the bottom of the paypoints (i.e. paypoint 23 salary of £22,886) - are my employers allowed to do that, or should I be put higher up the scale (i.e paypoint 26 salary of £25,818)?

    If you resigned from your previous post and this return to work was a new contract then yes they can put you at what they see as an appropriate level of pay given what is deemed your previous experience.

    If however you were off on say mat leave or sick leave and it was a normal continuation of your contract then normally once a job has been assimilated you 'slide' across to the equivalent pay (inevitably it will be marginally higher than your previous salary) on the band that you have been assimilated to. In the event that there is no equivalent ie you were paid less than the bottom point then you will be put on the bottom of the band. What cannot be done is put you on less pay than before if it is a continuing contract.

    Thats it more or less in a nutshell, hope it is clear.
