Podiatry Assistant seeking role

Hello,
I'm embarking on an entire new career path. I am beginning a part time podiatry course in the North West (Monday and Thursdays) I am seeking a podiatry assistant job that can work with my course commitments but where I can get fully immersed and learn all that I can and become the best practitioner I can be. What I lack in experience I will make up in commitment and enthusiasm. I am a 'mature' student having previously worked as a secondary school teacher. I bring lots of skills from this role especially patience and communication skills to say the least.

I would love to hear back from someone within the Manchester/Cheshire region.

Which University is your course being run from?. I always understood that Podiatry is run as a 3 years full time course at University.

Or are you doing a Foot Health Practitioner course via correspondence course?

I hope you are aware that the titles Chiropodist and Podiatrist are protected by the Health Care Professions Council and all registrants are required to have completed a 3 year University Degree course in order to be admitted to the register.

If you are looking for a new career as a Podiatrist you will have to go to University for 3 years to get a BSc Podiatry. Salford would be your nearest University.

Yes I am aware of that. It's a part time podiatry degree at Salford, not all degrees are 3 years full time.

May I ask WHY on god's green earth would you swap teaching for podiatry???

You have given up paid annual leave of, what nigh on 3 months a year, golden hello, career progression, etc for podiatry???

I can tell you that it is VERY injury prone job - my back is almost gone, neck too, eyes, and probably hands.

There is very little holiday. The pay is shabby. No prestige/respect. Very slow career progression. Physically exhausting, daily I collapse in a heap when I get home. And now hardly any jobs out there to reward your 3 years training.

So if I was you I would make a 'u' turn and go back to teaching, unless you want to look like quasimodo (a poor one at that)

I'm in my first year (full time) at Huddersfield and will be searching for assistant roles once this year is complete.

Have you considered contacting private practices, might be a bonus if you are willing to work for free (at least as a trial) and maybe help cover reception, make cups of tea, order lunch? Might sound like a nothing job but contacts are contacts and I feel networking should be added to the syllabus in order to secure work lol x
