My name is Benny Wax. I'm a CPed and run a custom ski boot fitting operation in Stowe, Vt. We work with many kinds of skiers, (professionals, racers and recreational tourists), snowboarders and telemark skiers to help thme play on the snow and have fun. Work with some pretty beat up feet and try to accommodate them for their sport.
It is fun as well as rewarding.

    Hello all,

There is a patient who will start running bear foot and was wondering if there are any tips for the soles of feet to be less tender and fragile?

    Re: reply to barefoot running

Hi. I would tell your patient to start running in the Vibram 5 finger minimalist shoe in order to adjust to: the impact forces generated; the altered running gait; the callousing & possible blistering which will ensue. If he is able to sustain his running 4 to 5 days per week for 3-4 weeks then I would tell him to integrate his easy run as a barefoot run once in that first week. Then integrate an interval run the next week until he is able to incorporate his long run-he should be able to run all 3 in the same week. He should now be ready to graduate to running barefoot full-time. I hope this helps.
