    Provider Numbers

Look What I found on the Medicare website

(1/3/2016)"We are experiencing a peak in provider number applications. We are currently processing applications received on 4 February 2016 from Allied Health Professionals."
Then once you receive your new provider number you send it to HICAPS and wait some more.

I was just wondering what answer the APODC has received from the Minister about the unreasonable delay in receiving a provider number.

A new Grad may want to eat during the month or so required to grant and process a provider number.
    Welcome to the profession.

Hi Trevor, that's why offer membership at no cost to students which continues until the 30th June after they graduate, to help them deal with these types of issues. We also provided advice to APodA members recently on how to manage this to minimise the impact which we have in writing following our discussions with the Department. It's part of the service we offer to help members deal with issues so they don't have to try and navigate government departments, research and find solutions.

Perhaps they need to focus less on auditing practitioners and instead put their heads down and process provider number applications.

So, if the association offers free memberships to students why are they not joining.
I was speaking with a new grad the other day and asked if they were a member of the association. The answer was no and the strange look that I got was like, why on earth would I join the association.

The words " deal, issues, manage, minimise, discussions and navigate" are not legal tender in the supermarket.
When you graduate you need to get a job to gain an income and pay some bills.

Thanks Trevor. The statement that they aren't joining is incorrect; the person you spoke to hasn't joined. Most students across the country do join - I've seen the numbers.
