  2. This is the strategic plan for podiatry in the UK for the forseeable future. Note the source. Not the Society/Istitute or any other professional body. Workforce planners and service commissioners. Of course, politicians have a quite seperate agenda - not that I would have a great deal of faith in that alternative. On present course, Podiatry UK PLC will become an increasing irrelevence; an outsourced, underfunded, unskilled generic health assistant "profession".

Think we had the best of it. What a shame for the patients and the young pods graduating today.

No mention of IPP's diagnosing and referring DM2's or prevention and maintenance that we carry out on a daily basis.

NHS to encourage self care on low risk diabetics = discharge into oblivion or non professional care. Any fear of referring to us for safe keeping ???:bash:

Last time I attended a diabetes UK conference not one of the speakers recognised or acknowledged the existence of IPP's so frankly I don't see this report is in any way an accurate reflection of what is happening in the real world. They are concerned only with the needs of the future NHS and I suggest know very little if anything about the resource's that are available in podiatry IPP networks.

But then if we cant sort ourselves out and the professional bodies wont talk to each other............what do we expect:sinking:

    cheers
    D;)
