We all know that New Zealand are going to win, but let us pretend for a moment that our home countries stand a chance...

Personally, I think the French will be the "dark horse"; the English captain, can't play open-side for toffee; the RFU selection policy is a load of old cobblers; Steffon Armitage is clearly the best open-side England should field.; some hooker will "fall on his sword" ("get injured") so that Dylan Hartley can be called up (English line-out and scrum is crap without him); Manu Tualigi, being the highest try-scorer in the current English set-up won't appear at centre because he got ****** and "****ed-up" won't be playing- love the RFU me.. English RFU- preventing England from standing a chance at the 2015 world cup. Lancaster to hand in his notice after poor England performance at 2015 world cup... Just getting warmed-up. An hour to go... let's see... Bring it...

BTW, ITV ccoverage, FFS. look at it, say what it is....

Interesting win by the All Blacks (the top ranked team) over Namibia (the bottom ranked team) 58-14 ... gone are the days of the 100 point margins between the top teams and the easy beats ...

Nice respect shown by the All Blacks to Namibia at end of game:

Nice thing about rugby v soccer. The winners (or home team) always do applaud the losers (or visitors) in. The reverse then happens, although you rarely see it because it takes place in the tunnel. Even Australia do this! Used to be that players would exchange shirts; the meaning being that we are not members of a particular team but are all players together. Then we'll beat the living sh+t out of each other next time. It's great that so many 'no hopers' such as Japan prove otherwise.

Goodaye Bill and bad luck; bad luck for Aus as now realistically we have to beat England; unless we beat Biggar; and "Even Australia do this", nice touch sir, all the best, mark

Hi Mark, thanks for your heartfelt commiserations, I'm off to cry into a couple of pints of Old Peculier. Beaten by the Taffies - and at Twickenham! Still as the Springboks learned against the Japs, if you don't score the points, you lose - and the Welsh cross kick was inspired.

Never mind, all England have to do is beat your lot, watch you massacre the Taffs and then the All Blacks will be a breeze!

The competition has really caught hold here; the various towns hosting teams are vying with each other to offer welcome and support. It'll do the game, and international relations a great deal of good - which is positive, even if England are kicked out in the early stages which looks quite likely!

    Cheers

    Bill

  10. And that Ladies and Gentlemen, is why you need an open-side flanker playing at open-side flanker, not a blind-side "doing his best". England ripped apart by the Australian back row. Well done Australia. Time for English rugby to re-think it's selection policy. We chose not to select our best open side flanker because he plays for a "french" team, we chose not to select our best hooker because he'd have missed the first game against Fiji for a ban, we chose not to select our best line breaking centre because he got drunk and in a fight, we chose not to select our best game changing sub (who scored whenever he was played) because the RFU don't like him, we then chose to pick one of the coaches sons to play 10, when the best 10 was left on the bench. Pitiful. Sack the lot of them.

    Hi Mark

My wine tastes of salt..... The only slight comfort the England fans might find is if the Aussies go on to win, which they very well might. My world is in Ashes.

    Cheers

Goodaye Bill, as Simon and others have said, your coaches/management really 'stuffed' this one and lucky for Aus and Wales. Your scrum is the real surprise; I, as well as many other Aust. supporters, thought England would still have supremacy. Why couldn't your backs get it out wide more often? Your 14 looked good. Brown, luckily, again, for us, had his least impressive game. If Aust tops the pool A they don't have to meet the Darkness till the final, so we are hoping for a victory or draw against Wales. Positive for England is that they've reached their lowest point, it can only get better and in four years I'll certainly be having a 'saver' on England. All the best, mark

With Watson I meant with ball in hand; not the best kick there at the end; mind you, why they passed it to him on the blind, poor choice...............

    Thanks Mark

No excuses here. England were beaten by a much better team. Yes, England's passing wide was lamentable but Pocock, for example, didn't need to be wide to break the line. Yes, the England pack was heavier and on paper better but the Aussie pack on the field was better in both the scrums and the mauls. Yes, in Farrell England have a first class kicker but how often did he, and others, fail to find touch? Back to the drawing board I think.

    Cheers

    Bill

PS Can we have your manager?

I remember watching Cheika play; for Randwick which was the premier sydney side for decades, had all the Wallabies, including the Ella brothers; he was a no-nonsense 8. Ritchie and Lancaster must go, obviously, mark ......................... I was screaming out, with joy, especially with those last few scrums; feel free to batter our cricket team next Ashes, so many 'big-heads', mind you Clarke has retired.

Goodaye Craig, hopefully Aust beats (or draws with) Wales so don't have to play the Darkness till the final; that's dependent, of course, on both teams beating their respective quarter-final and semi-final opponents. Whose side of the draw are the French?

Mr.Payne, it is not becoming to kick a man when he is down.

C'mon Aussie, give the sheep sh####rs (both of them) a good going over!

The biggest puzzle is that according to Wikipedia and my arithmatic(admittedly both sometimes slightly wonky),there are more registered rugby players in England, than in all the other nations in the world cup combined!!It will give me a small degree of comfort the next time England beat Scotland to think that for every player Scotland select,England have over 50 to choose from and therefore, however much they beat us by,it is not enough!!!

Bill, sorry mate, but there's an interesting analysis of the scrums, from an Australian, for the match here ............ (don't know how to start a new line) .......... http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/scrum-analysis-how-the-wallabies-crushed-england/
Note; I think we (Aust) have little chance against the Darkness; their backline is superb plus the best player in the world Kieran Read (better than Pocock in offence by a long way), Retallick (awesome), and of course probably in running for greatest of all time though getting on RICHIE MCCAW; i have a decent wager on them to win it

It hurts, it hurts. Mind you, the Wallabies stuffed the northern sheep sh####rs with only 13 men, so it's not all bad. The southern sheep sh####rs (Craig's lot) are still favourites, but if I was a betting man I'd have a quiet few bob on the Aussies - after all, the Japs beat the Springboks.

Poor show from the ref. Was it ill manners, a pricked conscience or call of nature preventing him from staying to shake hands with team players?
