Spiral of archimedes and STJ axis?

    im sorry im such an idiot, can someone please explain:

    how the stj acts like a mitered hinge
    the spiral of archimedes and stj

    ankle and OMJA midtarsal

    John Manter first modeled the subtalar joint facets as a "spiral of Achimedes" (Manter JT: Movements of the subtalar and transverse tarsal joints. Anat Rec, 80:397-410, 1941). See his attached paper.
