Splinter like pain on left side of left foot

Recently developed a pain on the left side of my left foot and thought it was caused by a splinter in my sock,
Changed sock and severeal days later the same problem. I have no found that I am able to induce the pain when I turn my left foot onto the floor putting pressure on the side of the foot. What could this be?
