    Hello,

My name is Laura and I'm a mature student currently studying an Access to Health course, and preparing to apply to university for 2018 intake. I'm 38 and with my son nearly grown, I want to change careers and go back to my first loves of science and health, and find a career where I can make a real difference to people. I am particularly keen to study podiatry. I have become fascinated with all of varied conditions of the feet and lower leg, and their impact on health and wellbeing. I like that it is both a highly specialised subject, and one that has a wide range of fields of study within it.

I have been researching the subject and reading articles and watching videos ( any recommendations of any articles / videos/ blogs etc that I should investigate, gratefully received!!) and just trying really hard to improve my chances of an offer at university.

I was wondering if any podiatrists on this forum would allow me to shadow them? I would be incredibly grateful for the opportunity. I live on the South coast but would be happy to travel. Nearly all the universities require shadowing as a prerequisite for consideration.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post. I have found this forum very interesting. Also, even if you are not able to offer shadowing ( I appreciate its a big ask) any tips or advice about study or finding shadowing opportunities would be much appreciated.

    Thanks again,

    Laura.

    Hi Laura.

I'm based in Norfolk/Suffolk but you're welcome if you can make the trek. I'm sure you'll get a more local offer but PM me if any interest.

    Best of luck
    Ian

    Hi Laura,
Great to hear you are considering a career in Podiatry. Your local NHS trust may be able to help with a work experience placement - if you contact the training and development department they should be able to advise you.
    Kind regards
    Martin
