    I was browsing the Podiatry forums over at SDN and a link was made to this;

It's nice to know Podiatry isn't the only medical profession where you can have demotivating days. This was written by an Opthalmologist.

Haha that is hilarious! Although just had a moment that could add to that...

Working in Biomechanics clinic a very pleasant lady comes with her presumed husband (or so the recptionist had told me that he was her husband) for treatment of her corn. I politely inform the couple that we do not do debridement in these clinics as we do not have the equipment and that her referral to this clinic was probably down to administrative error but I would happily make her an appointment with one of our routine clinics so that she can get this sorted. I ask her when would be suitable for her and husband. At this point, she informs me that the gentleman sat next to her in the big suit with the briefcase is not her husband but is in fact her solicitor who is accompanying her to all her appointments as she is currently sueing the NHS for 1.5million and he wants to ensure that all her treatment is being carried out correctly so he has something to go on in court! What a perfect moment to tell someone that they've had an incorrect referral made
Luckily it isn't Podiatry they have the problem with but the people that did her failed back surgery but I was going for a moment there. Will now definitely word 'administrative error' better though lol

Can't afford to go by ambulance? Can't afford her mediacation for diabetes? Is this what awaits the NHS?

Every day that I work I wonder why so many people:

    i) don't understand the way their body works
ii) don't care about the way their body works
iii) are entirely happy to make someone else responsible for ensuring their body continues to work.

I thought it was just an NHS problem due to "acute medical services" (loose use of term here) appearing to be free. Obviously not. It seems that high insurance costs to cover medical services still fosters the same ignorance.

One thing that does stick out is that stupidity is global in any form of healthcare. My most recent one involved a pt who had taken somthing they were not supposed to.
Pt walks into my clinic and started with.
Pt. The Lord dropped a towel on my toe and it hurt.
    Me. What???
Pt. Are you going to go upstairs and ask the Lord why he dropped a towel on my toe.
Me. Right then have you taken any medication today?
Pt. Yes the 2 the Dr gave me.
Me. Have you taken anything else other than the Dr gave you?
Pt. Yes I got somthing from 2 men off the street to help me.
Me. Why did you take somthing you got from 2 men?
Pt. All Irish men are horrible to me I had to drink lagar at a pub otherwise I had to leave. I dont drink though.
Me. Ok now your telling me you went to a pub was this before or after the 2 men.
Pt. Why is it around here all Indians kick footballs at me everytime I see one they kick a football at me.

I gave after this point and let him carry on while. I think all health care workers should get a bonus pay for this type of thing
