Right, I am prepared to be the saddo who is going to start the Star Wars Poll. I've been waiting for someone to do it but clearly everyone has better things to do than me - except Robert Isaacs:cool:

I am a Return of the Jedi man myself. Action in the desert, action in space, action in the forest and let's face it, who didn't get upset when the Stormtroopers started killing the Ewoks?

For those of you who are avid fans, I suggest watching Star Wars Begins . There are 12 x 10min episode on youtube and they are very interesting. There are simlar documentaries from the same guy for Empire and Return of the Jedi. Plenty of hours wasted watching them

    Enjoy

  2. There is no poll so I vote Stars wars films all 6 - MEH:D

    Return of the Jedi. ;)

Always wanted to be like Princess Leia (Although I bear a striking resemblance to Jabba the Hutt) :empathy:

The poll is up - vote away

And a note to anyone else...there is no option for not liking Star Wars films.

If you don't like 'em, then we don't want you on this thread
    :boxing:

  6. For me it changes, so I might have to have a Star Wars marathon before I vote in the poll so I can give you my up to date opinion. I can tell you that the ewoks spoil return of the jedi for me, little ****s.

  7. Impossible question. I'm a lover of fight choreography so Sith will always have a place in my heart. But then, the millenium falcon is the millenium Falcon*! Its like comparing coldplay to curry. They're just... different.

Empire or sith, depending on my mood.

I also think the poll should include the family guy versions and the robot chicken versions.

    Robert
*did you know the sound effects for the MF were recorded from a dying air conditioner?

Oh and the ewoks? Just why? A legion of crack stormtroopers wiped out by a bunch of care bears?! Really??

George lucas never did know how to do comic relief. Jar jar binks and the ewoks were a waste of good celluloid.

  8. Weren't the ewoks originally supposed to be wookies?

The Wookies would have been far more likely to destroy some crack storm troopers. One thing that always got me about the whole clone thing was that when the clones first started fighting for the alliance, they were really effective soldiers, but by the time Luke Skywalker was around, the couldn't hat a barn door with blaster(or a blast door I suppose) and seemed to fall on a lot of banana peels.

As a 5 year old boy, i loved the Ewoks and there really was no reaon why a badly stuffed bear couldn't take on a battalion of soldiers who had been unstoppable throughout the GALAXY(said in a James Earl Jones voice)

For those of you interested in Star Wars and Barry Manilow

  11. Yeah well everyone was more kick ass in the prequals.

But the "Canon" reason is that storm troopers are not the same as clone troopers. They were initially, but 7 years after ROTS the Kaminoans got narked and started breeding their own army. The 501st (clone troopers) was sent to Kamino and wiped them out but from there it was decided that clones would not be used from the same template any more on the basis that it was too dangerous. So some stormtroopers are natural born humans, others are clones from other sources (decreasingly so) and by Episode 4, very few of jango fetts original clones were left outside of the 501st. Hence they were less kickass.

  12. Take a group of geeks, then subdivide them into geeks who like Star Wars versus those that don't; further subdivide them into geeks who are also fans of Barry Manilow.... put them on a small island, say the Isle of Man. It doesn't sound like a healthy breeding population to me. Wait a couple of generations....

    Yep, here's what you'll get...

    "Normal"- right?

  13. Can I suggest masturbation as a healthier obsession? But, not to Star Wars

  14. Well, maybe not THAT nerdy. But yes, I like star wars. A lot.

    Define "Normal"

    Here's how i'd define it. It's a simple 2 quetion test

    Do you like liver?
    do you like bacon?

    Yes to both......normal

    I'm vegetarian....:empathy: <--- needs help

Still like (my liver) which doesn't always like me.

Smell of bacon makes me hungry.

    = I am a bad vegetarian.

Still like Star wars though. May I still join?

Anyone who is a Star Wars fan can join the thread. But you can only be normal on the Isle of Man if you like bacon and liver.Otherwise, you are a deviant, yes a deviant...deviant.

  18. Yes.

Ben Burtt is clearly a genius, but what's your best sound from Star Wars? Love a bit of Chewie me. But I also like some light sabre action (who doesn't, right ladies?). But then there's the sonic charges dropped from Slave 2 in episode 2...

if you had a light sabre, what colour would it be?

Best sound - lighsabers, has to be.
Lightsaber colour - Mace Windu colour

Has anyone had a look at the Star Wars Begins link I posted at the start. There were so many things i didn't know about Star Wars until i watched them. But I'm just not as dedicated to geekdom as Robert;)

My thanks to Robert for his link to the Star Wars Rap as this was the first video on the list after it. Best laugh I've had in a while

The thing that really amuses me about this clip is the juxtaposition between a Stormtrooper - soldier of the future and the white Escort XR3i in the background. Classic

  21. That would be Slave 1. This is slave 2

    I'd take black or red.

And I'd agree that my brain releases happy juice at the mere sound of a lightsaber ignition.

Favourite character. Han solo gets it for me every time.

The real reason the young Robert and Robin like star wars so much

Ps much better in another film I love.

Princess Leia - no seriously I was going to heavily criticize all of the poor taste voters who have placed Return of the Jedi (affectionately now which will be referred to as RoTJ) above The Empire Strikes Back (affectionately now referred to as TESB).

TESB is by far the greater film, and possibly has the single greatest "reveal" of all time with the Darth Vader/Luke Skywalker bit.

But now that I have seen that picture of Princess Leia I see why ROTJ has so many votes....seriously Carrie Fisher "was" smoking!!!!

The ups & downs of one of history's most endearing actors... the humanity that exudes from this pint sized droid will amaze all!

Very few give R2 the credit he is due... there is more to him than his cute looks & the tweets & beeps!

C3 does a fine job also.
