help with Purchase Foot Scan

Hi All,

I am an ESP Podiatrist MSK and have been using the RS foot scan in NHS for years.

My self and a colleague (also ESP MSK) are thinking of getting a foot scan system for our small private practices. We both feel that over the past year patients are nearly expecting a foot scan as part of their assessment and nearly expect the 'pretty pictures'.

Anyway we have been looking at the systems available and are thinking of the Podotech Elfmann but we don't know anyone who has used one and are nervous about buying a system we don't know, we might just go for the RS but the price difference is considerable.

In short has anyone any experience with the Podotech system? Any feedback would be sooo helpful.

Hi Claire,

I have the Podotech system in my NHS clinic in Leeds. It is certainly a good bit of kit for the money. Good points are; the software is multi-license use so can be loaded on multiple machines, which is handy if you need to move the mat around different sites. There is a good variety of diagnostics ranging from pressure mapping to force/time analysis. I have seen the RS mat in action and although it has some good built in algorithms in the software that help with your analysis and produces some possibly better output graphs (which I suppose may be important for your private clinic), I wouldn't say it was worth the extra for what I required. That's just my opinion though, there may be some that would say the RS software gives more added value, but for what I need I am satisfied with the podotech mat. I think RS say that they have more sensors too but I didn't notice much difference in the outputs of the two systems on the same subject (me).

No problems with reliability so far either. Hope that helps

F-scan has an F-mat pressure mat system that we use at our clinic here in the U.S. It is pretty easy to use and once the cords and computer are all connected your assistant can print out the peak pressure profile and force vs. time curves. I think this might close to what you are looking for.

Thank you for the input. I will have a wee look at the F-Scan too. I still haven't made a decision... The more I read on Spec etc i'm just fueling the confussion. My colleague has made her decision and gone with RS system ( just thought I would tell you) but I am still:craig: lol

I can sense a decision being made before the start of the new financial year
