Does anyone know if anyone has ever successfully qualified as a podiatric surgeon in the UK: starting out as a mature student? Or are they mostly 18yr old pod students with a career pathway from young?

    Hello Phil

Yes, I did so and as did most of the podiatric surgeons in the U.K. I would go so far as to say maturity (not necessarily related to age) is crucial. There are so many fights unrelated to the professional qualification waiting round the corner that you really do need to be able to handle it - hopefully with the support of your colleagues.

    All the best

I would say that the vast majority of podiatric surgeons would be regarded as mature students when they headed towards the surgery track. I would struggle to name one who has gone through the system having finished university at 21/22, so do not let that stop you - good luck!
