Has anyone tried one of these services if so how successful are they?
Given that most of our clientielle are of advancing years..are they more cost effective than an answering machine

thanks in advance for you opinions

    Hi Toughspiders,

I use a British company called Realtime Reception. I've been with them for around 3 years & found them really good. I cannot afford to employ a receptionist & was finding people were unhappy leaving an answer phone message. The way it works. My phone is redirected after 6 rings where the reception team take the call & have my diary information online so they can make bookings when I'm busy elsewhere.

Bonus is for me my patients aren't waiting for me to return a call, also if I'm on holiday or away on a course my practice is still running in my absence. No more finishing work late at night then returning calls. Another bonus is I do not have to cover any sickness or staff leave.

All in all for me it has been a very efficient & cost effective option.

    Kind regards,

    Mandy.

In my experience, it depends on the company. If you find a reputable firm, please let me know.

I have been trialling one such virtual firm in recent weeks for call overflow / lunch breaks. Naturally, I tried phoning the office number myself to test the waters. I found that I had to call 5 times just to get through, (they answered the phone, but there was some technical problem and i could not hear the operator at all).

This obviously concerned me, so I cancelled the subscription.

We have to remember, that we are dealing primarily with the frail aged. A receptionist, virtual or otherwise, requires patience and some understanding.

Other important things to ask the firm: Are ALL calls answered within Australia? (Take a look - many companies divert the call overseas).
