The purpose of an online discussion group

    The main purpose for which the online discussion group was used could be summarised as communication, information sharing and networking.

    No wonder the activity of the group declined during the last three years of data collection!

    What about all those functions that bring the group to life and ensure its long term existance such as:

    Relieving boredom;
    Excercising the humour muscle;
    Ideas testing;
    Diversion from the job at hand;
    Ridiculing others;
    Ego tripping;
    Sycophancy;
    Sarcasm;
    Ranting;
    Snearing;
    Sulking;
    Relieving tension.
