Biomechanical difference between traditional and 3D printed orthoses

    Of course there would be no differences if they are made to the same prescription as they should be the same shape!!!!
     
  3. Plastic stiffness will be different so there will be some difference if you are a hair splitting type of person, which I am ofc :D

    Matching the shape is only part of the equation. As Mike Weber pointed out, there are thickness issues to match flexibility. Some of my clients also want to 3d print, which will provide us with good working comparison data with machined orthotics and homopolymer polypropylene vs 3d printing of different materials.

    How solid the model is is also a factor, as well as the 3D printing software's ability to interpret it as a solid.
