i selected my favourite 'anarchy' and called my (visiting mother-in-law, a good stick @ 84) over to enjoy, her comment was "they're colourful, but I wouldn't know how to dance to it"

aye thats ok. quite like it. quite mainstream for slash

while i'm on here is another challange to everyone ( a favour really actually) i'm running a marathon in may and making up a playlist so looking for both pulsating rock numbers that will get the legs going ( for example motorhead-ace of spades, foo fighters -the pretender) as well as jaunty numbers that will ensure i dont go out too fast ( for example van morrison - bright side of the road).

if run to the hills by Maiden or whatever comes on too early i might not make halfway :D

    any suggestions gratefully recieved

    cheers
    JB

  6. Throw out that dull, predictable alphabetical ordering and re-categorise your collection by beats per minute (BPM), work out your required cadence for your mile splits and match to BPM. Alternatively, don't run a marathon.

  7. and to add to Simons post if I may- still listen to the music but with beverage of sorts in hand, sounds like a much better way to spend 3-4 hours, but remember it still involves training. Slowly build up the training loads- but have a massive night the night before rather than rest. Funny how if you had a big night the night before after the 1st beer the day after which may go down with barbed wire, you get through that and off to the olympics in booze consumption. A question for Guru Bob I think.

Pixies - Caribou, Glasgow Oct 2009, played after their encore, as the remaining part of a Glasgow gig from many years before, when the stage broke! Understated brilliance. May not be the best rock song in the world, but my favourite Pixies tune, the best I've ever heard it played. Hope the video does it partial justice!

aye i do like the pixies

simon/michael- did London marathon a few years ago and stayed with my mate. he was glad to see someone down to visit so was choking to go out for a beer. anyway long story short, went for a chinese and a few beers and ended up p!shed
believe me its something i will not repeat. sharing portaloos with 35000 people isnt a great idea at the best of times. but hungover! it was like the monty python sketch - marathon for incontinents.
    cheers

Really hard to choose just five, because we all know that Bon Scott should be in everyones top five, so I've left him out it - gone but not forgotton. So here goes:
Suzie Q - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Bat out of Hell (the long version) - Meatloaf
Your time is gonna come - Led Zep
    Undone (The Sweater Song) Weezer
Bullet in the Head - Rage against the Machine
