ah now we are talking. never mind pronation and the like lets talk about something decent:D
top five too hard ( top 50 would be difficult) but right this minute i'd go for (in no particular order)

    ACDC - riff raff
jimi hendrix - johnny be goode ( just awsome)
    ACDC -whole lotta rosie
lynyrd skynyrd - call me the breeze
    foo fighters - the pretender.

that list will probably change tomorrow.
First meeting of U2 was in Larrys kitchen, they were (very briefly) a 5 piece with edges brother until Larry said he was wierd and he left. 1st gig was at school with another band called something like Rat Salad. U2 got booed. dunno if they were U2 at that time. seem to remember they were going to be called 'feedback' or some other such nonsense.

and anyone else puts Evanescence they should be ashamed of themselves.
thin lizzys live and dangerous is brilliant but not strictly live at the finish. heavily worked on and tidied up in the studio. ACDC live at apollo- now there is an album.

    great thread

Joy Division paved the way for a fellow Manchester band that were to become the most influential guitar band of the 80s (or in my mind 'ever')... The Smiths.

Anything from The Smiths fills my Top 5.

1 The Smiths - How Soon is Now?
2 The Smiths - What Difference Does It Make?
3 The Smiths - Bigmouth Strikes Again
4 The Smiths - The Boy With a Thorn In His Side
5 The Smiths - You Just Haven't Earned It Yet Baby

For something more mainstream, what do you think about
KISS - I was made for loving you.

PS. I pass by the Bon Scott Gate of the Fremantle Cemetery every day on my way to and from work. Yes, there is a special memorial gate erected in his honour. He is regarded as a legend in these parts.

  10. Thought of a covers 5. Which I like.....

    1. Placebo doing the pixies - Where is my mind (their was a pixie helping with this performance but it rocks in my world) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUNIZVpNH-0

    2. Ram Jam - Black Betty http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R044sleOW6I

    3. Pearl Jam doing 25 mins to go by Johnny Cash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CM_E5kfjGQ

    4. Nirvana doing Vasolines Jesus don´t want me for a sunbeamhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdyqXSa5Bzc

    5. Jeff Buckley doing Mr L Cohen´s Hallelujah http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIF4_Sm-rgQ

  11. Music Trivia...

As you can see above I did not put in artist name for who Ram Jam were covering with their one and only hit, which was huge, from the 70´s .

Black Betty was an old Slave song from the early days of the U.S. The slaves would sing while working the fields. Black Betty was the whip...

Here´s a recording (they say it is the 1st but I have heard an older on with female voices )from the 1930´s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwxxXt--PQo

ok ok so I'm in a Rock thread and I don't like rock-but I just love the energy and vibe this thread has brought out of the woodwork. So how about Procal Harem "A lighter shade of pale" I had this played at my wedding while we were signing the register, Am I forgiven?

  14. I can't listen to this song without thinking of Withnail and I, another film with a great soundtrack, unfortunately while this song is playing, I is coming down off speed and sitting in a greasy spoon feeling, well frankly, like you do when you are coming down off speed- or so I'm lead to believe. I hope your wedding was a more joyous occasion. Or maybe you served fried egg sandwiches too......;)

  15. To give them their full name: The all american ram jam band.

  16. That I did not know. Note to self Add that to the trivia file.

  23. Dear Belinda,Bob, JB,Mark,Simon,etc

It appears the THE Rule is not the best of rules should we throw it out the closed window like all good TV´s in hotels should be.... ?

and therefore ignore the THE ?

  24. blinda

Not sure Matt Johnson would agree, however I do (bum, swore I`d never say those 2 words ever again)... we should have two instincts; to have fun, and a desire to change the world. This could be the a chance to do both....;)

  25. You've just ****** on my party- I was going to have The The for my T- doh. Like I said ages ago, but was ignored, in alphabet categorisation "the" is usually ignored. Which ****s me right off, because I could have had The Cult -she sells sanctuary yesterday, or The Clash- white riot, etc...

  26. THE THE was on my list too. I´m just asking. Maybe a Spooner top 5 with bands starting with The ?

So I guess we ignore the THE from now on, Sorry

sorry Simon didn`t mean to ****** on your swaree. If it`s any consolation I would have also opted for The Cult -she sells sanctuary yesterday and The Clash- white riot?

I started trying to work out my 5 faves when there were only about 5 replies to this post a couple of days ago! Its taken me this long to do it and I must say Im still not happy. Top 10 would have been so much easier! Anyway, here goes, for what its worth -

    Tenacious D - Dio
Deep Purple - Strange Kind of Woman
    Rainbow - All Night Long
    Metallica - The Unforgiven
Blue Oyster Cult - Cities On Flame

Makes me sad I havent included AC/DCC, Whitesnake or Iron Maiden.
    5 aint enough
Thinkl I'll go have a cry

  33. E day

After listening to the Cult and the Clash it´s a bit relaxed but

Eagles- Hotel California is my pick.Eagles Hotel California Live

Hope we have not lost Mark and Wendy !
