I've had a big toe infection for the last month. After the abcess finally ruptured, I've been pulling out small, what appears to be, bone fragments from the edge of the nail. I can feel others under the skin and assume they are the cause of the prolonged infection and pain.
I had surgery 35 years ago for an ingrown toenail and have had no problem since. Where are these coming from and besides a foot bath and antibiotic ointment what else can be done short of surgery? Thanks for your input.
