Hi everyone. Can anyone help me with an insurance query?

I am opening up a new clinic in the UK in a premises leased from a private landlord. I am a member of the society and therefore receive all of their insurance benefits (including liabilies), however this does not include business buldings contents insurance. I have seaarched around for a company that will offer just business contents insurance but they all want to offer me a full package to include liabilities and contents. Upon advice from a local broker I cannot take out a full business package as this will duplicate my existing society insurance, therefore invalidating all policies. I believe I also cannot opt out of the society insurance without cancelling my whole membership - this is something I would like to avoid doing.

I am therefore stuck as to how I can insure my contents- or am I just missing something obvious? Wondered if anybody else has had the same issue? And any advice you may have to get around it?

It all depends on what type of lease you have from your landlord. If you have a full repairing lease then you will more than likely be paying for the buildings insurance through your landlord. If not then the landlord will pay for this, but may incorporate his costs into your rent (this is what I do when leasing out properties). Regarding clinic contents insurance try Premierline Direct 0845 330 1800 I know they will cover contents only along with public liability. There is no need to surrender your SCP insurance.
