I have a patient with heel ulcers preceded by an infection with this bug that also resulted in septicaemia and digital amputation 3 years ago. The ulcers have been treated by other facilities for extended periods with changing dressing regimes including medihoney;hydrocolloid paste; alginate & foam;hydrofibre & foam;mepitel & foam; gel & foam. There have also been several skin grafts. What remains is 2 areas 5mm deep ,5mm wide 7mm long that develope extensive callus around them over a short time period.
ANy suggestions?

 

Off Load the heel with a walking cast. Try 75% Silver Nitrate a couple of times.

Off loading is paramount.
