    Dear all,

It has been six months since I have graduated and have been trying to find work. However,in the mean time would like to ensure I have continued professional development.Any ideas on how to keep up to date apart from this site??

    Thanks

Hi Nikki10 & just in case nobody has already mentioned :welcome: aboard.

You don't mention where you are located

Your professional group eg. 'The Society' should have a local meeting group.

If you can be a little more specific the Podiatry Arena team will be sure to help if possible.

    Kind regards,

    Mandy.

    Nikki,

Several of the private hospitals in London offer free evening lectures throughout the year (at some you even get fed).

    Wellington Foot and Ankle Clinic
They run 'masterclasses' throughout the year from London Zoo. Click here to see an example of last years programme. Well worth registering your interest and asking for the programmes to be regularly sent to you - person to contact is Jean Anderson (Tel: 07967 032441 E: jean@wellingtonevents.co.uk)

    London Bridge Hospital
They don't do as many as the Wellington but easily do the best food no question. Location: City. This years list is here. Again, worth registering interest so you get regular updates etc. Contact there is Louise Kemp (louise.kemp@hcahealthcare.co.uk) or Clare Brammar (clare.brammar@hcahealthcare.co.uk) - they job share.

    London Orthopaedic Clinic
Location: West End. Their programme is here. Contact there is Sarah Gilbert (admin.sarah@londonorthopaedic.com)

Bear in mind these lectures are not necessarily Podiatry specific, but still worth attending if you are London based in my opinion.

There's also a clinic in Clapham called Balance Performance Physiotherapy who offer evening lectures. Their 2011 programme is here. Can't vouch for these ones personally as getting out to Clapham is too much of a ball ache for me.

my.on.examination.com do on line cpd of "core" topics. It gives you MCQ tests which you can read around . If you pass test you get a certificate to print out for your folder. Its £100 but £50 if you do it through the Society. Its been good but obviously depends how much reading around you do as to how much you get out of it.

I have done quite a few with St Johns and they often have ones near to your area. They are very good for manual handling, First aid updates etc and not too expensive.
