I have a new client coming in who states for over a month she has a spot on her foot that gets tingly, in waves of a few seconds, now really itchy, but not all day. Worse in shoes and when hot but also wakes her from sleep although she was ok when she went to bed. Visually there is nothing there ( I have not looked myself yet). It stopped for a few days then came back. Has been to another podiatrist who did not diagnose anything.

Should i be thinking fungus, bacteria, allergy, trapped nerve?

Anti fungal cream has not worked.

Should I do a skin swab? I was thinking process of elimination: 1 week anti fungal cream/ 1 week cortisone cream/ 1 week anti histamine. Changing shoes.

    Any suggestions?

I would see the patient first. Take a good Medical History and then make a list of differential diagnoses. Apply any tests required and then the cause may become clear. Guessing is unhelpful to you and the patient. If you are still unsure of the diagnosis then present the case (there are guidelines somewhere on the arena) and a photo for all to assess.

    Good Luck
