Interestingly enough, consigning such articles as quoted above to the waste paper bin along with similar articles and postings to this forum by one Professor Rothbart, keep me 'grounded'. It also decreases, I maintain, my chance of developing hypertension and cardiovascular disease.

There could be an interesting study there. Any takers? ;)

  5. Interesting. We'd need a control group of course, and getting ethical approval for making people read Brian's back catalog could be a swine. I suffer repeated nosebleeds whenever I read anything he wrote.

Craig usually has some spare undergraduates lying around looking untidy, we could ask him...

Thanks for the reply Robert - I enjoyed that! :D :drinks :good:

Sadly, I can't see it ever materialising - there's not a cat in hell's chance of ethical approval for such a cruel and thankless task as making people read through Brian's back-catalogue! I mean it's cruelty personified isn't it. We could provide after-task counselling though, and monitor them closely for a couple of weeks following the ordeal - now there's a thought!

    Eric.

This study is as bad as they get:
    - no control group
    - no blinding of assessments
    - wrong stats test (look at the difference in the pre and post standard deviations!)
    - etc

  8. Come now. I'm sure there have been worse...

A little closer to your work, companies sell shoes/sandals that are grounded by brass rivets thru the sole.

A couple of hazards I can see; beware of electricity and burns on the bottom of the feet from walking on hot pavement (conduction). I am sure you folks can think of other problems.

I have two running dogs which will ground anyone faster than they can blink if they (the dogs) are on the leash and see anything worth chasing. They've grounded me a few times and I've yet to see any benefit.......
Am reminded of Homer Simpson in the episode with the sensory depravation tank - what did he say to the New Age lady?
"Oogly-boogly to you" or some such. A very funny episode.
