I have read in several threads people referring to the 'fictitional FF Varus' or the 'very rare foot type FF varus' and hope you all forgive my ignorance for asking for some confirmation.

Is this referring to the low incidence of a (true)bony FF varus? If this is the case with a pt prone and their STJ placed in neutral, when eyeballing their FF to RF relationship and seeing an 'inverted' forefoot position (2-5) can we always assume it is due to soft tissue contracture?
Thank you in advance
