    Hi,

After some advice please. PT with fusion of both 1st MPTJ due to OA, no movement. Suffers from shin splints when walking, really keen to start jogging with help of othoses. In these cases I would offload via Morton’s extension to support 1st MPTJ and provide exercises for extensor muscles. What adjustments to an orthotic may be advisable here to help patient to start jogging? I am sceptical as I don't think orthoses will help her to jog due to stiffness of 1st rays, but perhaps she could be helped with shin splints when walking? Bit confused on this one.

I have been using the Hoka running shoes a lot in patients with this.
