This campaign advises the public to check that individuals are registered i.e. that they are not a cowboy.

And what about the (open to interpretation) cowboy customers, yes cowboy customers aka care home owners/managers that

    1. won't give you access to the patient notes (in some cases)
    2. want the cheapest. well if you want a professional service, you pay a professional fee and not the peanuts that these homes will pay.

    Simon Ross,
I agree with what you say about Care Homes wanting the cheapest fees they can. They justify it by saying that they want to get a "good deal" for their residents. There is an expression that says "buy cheap, buy twice" and this could well be applicable here.

I have lost count of the number of times I have been "replaced" at a Care Home by a non-HCPC Registered practitioner.

If the Care Home won't let you have sight of the patient records then I don't know how you can be expected to give correct treatment? Many residents are not able to inform you about their medical history/drug regime, so it is essential that the notes can be viewed.
