CPD audit report published

We have published our third report on our continuing professional development (CPD) audit process. The report describes the outcomes of the audits for fifteen professions covering over 5,500 registrants who were selected between 2011 and 2013. It also includes information about the audit process, statistics showing the outcomes of the audits and describes some trends we identified in the audits.

Our analysis of the findings found that the vast majority of registrants who participated in the audit successfully met the CPD standards. With professions that have now been through more than one audit, most have seen an improvement in the percentage of profiles that were accepted compared to previous audits. We have also found that the quality of the CPD profiles that were submitted for assessment was high and has improved with each round of audits. Encouragingly only a small minority of registrants who participated in the CPD audit did not meet the standards and, as a result, their registration was not renewed.

Our audits to date show that registrants are undertaking these activities routinely, and, most critically, are using them as a mechanism to reflect on their practice and seek improvement in the way they work.
